kitchen workstation

this one took me a little while.. started in march and finished in august. summer got in the way which in turn consumed most of my time in the garden. it's the first project in which i got to use my newly made pantarouter. more on that later. the workstation is made from pallet wood and 2x4's, with the exception of the top, which is made from reclaimed lengths of hardwood. the doors are made from MDF, as MDF is extremely stable and won't warp through the seasons (as long as it don't get wet... like a gremlin).

the pantarouter is a great little invention by Matthias Wandel at woodengears.ca. it's perfect for making consistent mortise and tenon joints, and also fun to use. i purchased his plans and made one for myself. i was very excited to finally put it to good use. please check out his site for a detailed description on the pantarouter and all the other cool stuff he does. Here's a link specifically for the pantarouter.
the main leg posts were salvaged from pallets and had some good size cracks running the length. to hopefully ensure a little bit of stability and, i opted to install some hardwood butterfly's to keep the cracks from spreading.

had purchased a vinyl cutter and needed a place to store it. as a collector of used pallet wood it only made sense to turn some of it into a solution. and of course, why not a wolf head on the front. been trying to dial in my inlay parameters on the router and thought this would be a good opportunity. only had to remake the front door once! hurray
